Yamaha proudly announces the next generation of V6 Offshore four-stroke outboards, the F300, F250 and F225.
Highly evolved and perfectly adapted to the offshore marine environment. With their big bore 4.2 litre displacement, these engines are exceptionally powerful. Their big capacity has been matched with Yamaha’s Variable Camshaft Timing system that dramatically increases power and throttle response at low and mid range RPM. This allows Yamaha’s new 4.2 litre big-bore V6 Offshore Outboards to deliver awesome “out of the hole” performance and mid-range acceleration you have to feel to believe.
Class-leading 4.2L capacity has been achieved by using a highly-advanced thermally-applied plasma fusion process on the cylinder walls. This is a feature, more commonly found on high-performance sports cars, that makes Yamaha’s new V6 Offshore outboards like no other outboard motor ever made.
They have no conventional steel cylinder sleeves, yet the cylinder walls are 60% harder than steel. Sleeveless cylinders mean larger cylinder bores for increased displacement, resulting in more power and torque. This is all achieved without increasing the overall size of the engine.
It also results in better cooling properties and dramatically lighter weight. Amazing weight savings have been achieved on Yamaha’s new Offshore V6 range for maximum performance without sacrificing durability. In fact these motors are the lightest in their class by quite a margin.
All air entering the engine block of each Yamaha V6 Offshore outboard is routed through a single 75mm electronically-controlled throttle valve. Working in concert with the Precision Multi-Point Fuel Injection System, together they help ensure the precise amount of air and fuel necessary for optimum power and fuel efficiency.
Yamaha V6 Offshore outboards are compatible with Yamaha’s new electronic rigging system. Featuring a new 5” high-contrast, multi-engine, LCD display, new Electronic Controls, and new key switches and start/stop panels, this system offers more convenience, flexibility, and information than ever before.
4,200cc V6 Engine
Featuring plasma-fused, sleeveless cylinders, double overhead camshafts (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder, these 4.2 Litre advanced V6 engines are extremely light, powerful and fuel efficient.
Digital Electronic Throttle
The ‘drive-by-wire’ throttle and shift offers the driver simple, smooth and precise operation.
Plasma Fused Cylinders
The plasma fusion process creates a cylinder wall surface that is 60% harder than steel, removing the need for conventional steel cylinder sleeves. The removal of these sleeves significantly reduces weight while increasing capacity in the engine, resulting in an improved power-to-weight performance.
Compact In-Bank Exhaust System
Yamaha’s ongoing weight-saving program has delivered an innovative in-bank exhaust system, with the manifold integrated into the cylinder head. Along with other weight-saving technologies and materials, helps to create a supremely compact and light engine design.
Electronic Throttle Valve
The electronic throttle valve provides sure and more precise valve opening and closing according to each engine temperature and atmospheric condition. This system works in tune with the fuel injection and ignition systems, to deliver incredible response and exceptional fuel economy.
One-Touch Start-Stop for Multiple Engines
This optional system for twin and triple installations automatically synchronises engines to allow a simple one-touch start and stop capability, for ease of use.
Shift Dampener System (Prop)
Yamaha’s Shift Dampener System (SDS) propellers greatly reduce the noise associated with shifting an engine in and out of gear by absorbing the forces generated when forward and reverse gears are engaged.
Variable Camshaft Timing
The Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) advances and retards the camshaft timing according to the engine RPMs. This in combination with the electronically controlled single throttle valve system and long intake manifold boosts low and mid-range torque for optimum acceleration.
Variable Trolling Control
Yamaha’s variable trolling control allows the skipper to precisely adjust the engine’s idling speed from 600 to 1000 RPM in 50 RPM increments. The ability to finely tune the trolling speed allows fisherman to perfect their lure presentation when chasing different species of fish.
